What is sex therapy?
Sex therapy is a unique talk therapy designed to help individuals and couples address medical, psychological, personal, or interpersonal factors that may be impacting intimacy or sexual satisfaction. The goal of sex therapy is to assess, diagnose, and treat any underlying emotional or psychological causes that may result in sexual dissatisfaction or dysfunction.
Is sex therapy right for me?
For many people, good sex comes naturally, but at one time or another, you might have a problem with your sex life or begin to experience dysfunction. Have you or your partner begun to have sexual concerns or problems with sexual desire or arousal? Maybe you have stopped having sex altogether. Alternatively, you might find that sexual activity is taking up a great deal of your life, and adversely affecting your personal and social relationships. I will help you to see your situation from a different viewpoint, enabling you to understand your sexual issues better and find effective solutions.
What can I expect from seeing a sex therapist?
Sex Therapy is similar to other psychotherapy as it treats the issues by talking through past and present experiences, issues that are currently affecting the relationship, worries, and fears, and hopes for your ideal sexual experiences and relationship. I may see you individually or as a couple, but it is my job to guide you as you process your current issues and expected outcomes.
I am a sex-positive therapist, that strives to create a safe nonjudgemental environment to support and encourage you toward building your ideal sexual relationship. We will work together to create a treatment plan that will move you toward your desired goal. I will include mutually agreed upon sex therapy exercises to build intimacy and trust, increase communication, and enhance your sexual desire and satisfaction.
